13 Ways to Repurpose Your Blog Post for Social Media

You sat down and diligently poured your expertise, thoughts, and creativity into your latest blog postā€¦ congrats!

It feels great to publish a piece of work online for the world to read. Maybe you have a marketing follow-through list that includes sending it out to your email list and sharing once on social media.

But then what?

Hereā€™s the deal: you put SO much effort into that post ā€” and I want to help you make the most of it.

Below, Iā€™m sharing thirteen brilliant ways you can repurpose your blog posts on social media for some seriously stellar, no-brainer content.

Instagram

01. Pull a shareable quote that you can easily style and share on Instagram.

This is probably one of the EASIEST ways to repurpose that blog post. Scan through and jot down any quotes that resonate, strike a chord, share an opinion, or offer encouragement. You can simply type this out in your Notes doc and screenshot to use as an image on Instagram (seriously, itā€™s that easy), or you can use an app like Canva to quickly design a pretty, on-brand quote post.

Tip: Boost engagement by turning your quote post into a carousel! If youā€™re designing your quote in Canva, simply duplicate and edit your graphic using your different brand colors. Do this for 2-3 color variations, and you have an easy, swipeable carousel post!

02. Create an Instagram reel teasing the blog post.

This is another one you can do simply and easily. Set your reel to music, and write in text on the reel posing a question. Then, direct viewers to the caption for the answer.

For instance, if the blog post is ā€œ5 conversation starters for your holiday party,ā€ start with the question, ā€œWant to know the secret to mingling like a pro at your party this season?ā€ with the CTA, ā€œCheck out the caption for my favorite no-fail conversation tip.ā€ Then in the caption, share the tip, and direct readers to your blog post for 4 more conversation starters theyā€™ll LOVE.

03. Use engagement-booster features in Instagram stories.

The features available to use in Instagram stories are there because Instagram WANTS you to use them! Start with a feature ā€” like a question or poll ā€” related to your blog post to help generate engagement in the first story. In the next story, bridge the gap, and include a link directly to your blog post.

Tip: Showing your face on Instagram stories is GREAT and highly encouraged. However, if you want your audience to take a specific action, keep the lead-in short and sweet. Donā€™t drag on for 8 storiesā€¦ if you want to give a sneak peek by sharing about your post in a talking story, do so in 1-2 stories with a link on ALL talking stories so viewers can hop over to the post anytime. And if you are doing talking stories, always always be sure to include captions. Many people view stories with the sound off, and this will ensure they donā€™t miss a thing!

Pinterest

04. Similar to Instagram, style shareable quotes pulled from your blog post.

Again, this is another easy way to repurpose some valuable quotes from your post! In fact, you can truly use the same graphics that you styled for Instagram ā€” just be sure to export at the correct sizes for each platform.

Tip: I recommend doing a few different styles of the same quote. Whereas for Instagram I simply recommended switching out colors to create a swipeable carousel, on Pinterest, it would go even further to try different fonts, photos, etc. that really differentiate the quote graphics.

05. Post various title graphics on Pinterest.

In this instance, youā€™ll want to style the title of the blog post as graphics to share on Pinterest. But donā€™t stop there; experiment with various alternative titles or teaser questions that lead in naturally to your blog post. Just donā€™t go TOO far off base; you want viewers to click through to your website and know that the post they just clicked on is connected to the correct blog post.

Email Marketing

06. Share your blog post to your email list.

This was mentioned above, but is worth mentioning again: make sure your blog posts are being sent to your regular email list! Give a snippet or intro to the post in your email as a teaser, then include a link for readers to click over and read the full post.

07. Turn your post into an email series.

This one takes a little more work, but can be a fun way to repurpose your post for greater reach. Segment your post out into 3-5 main points, and turn it into a mini email series! You can give a snippet each day of the email series, and either guide readers to your main email list at the end of the series, or lead them into a sales email series related to the blog post. This is an easy and fun opt-in idea, and hey, you already did the hard work of writing the valuable content in your blog post!

Other Ideas

08. Create an opt-in with your blog post.

Similar to the mini email series opt-in, you could also style your post in a PDF format for an easy, ready-to-go download that users can access after signing up with their email address. This is a great way to build your email list and provide super valuable content for your audience.

09. Create a YouTube video.

Already have a presence ā€” no matter how small ā€” on YouTube? Set your phone up on a tripod, and record yourself talking through the main points of your blog post! Just like your blog post, your video should include an intro, main points, and a closing section. Keep it engaging by moving through your points clearly and smoothly.

Tip: If you watch your video back and feel as though it drags on too long (something I dealt with back in my YouTube days), you can do a split-cut editing style that eliminates the awkward pauses and keeps the dialogue moving.

10. Do a Facebook or Instagram live.

Live video not only performs very well ā€” but is also a super easy way to get your content out there in yet another format! Similar to the YouTube video strategy, start with a simple intro, walk through your main points, and do a quick and easy closing.

Tip: At the end of every post, no matter if itā€™s video or not, a great practice is to include a CTA (call to action) ALWAYS. This gives your audience an idea of what to do next, whether itā€™s commenting, sharing, clicking over to a link, or subscribing.

11. Turn it into a podcast episode.

In the world of podcasting? This oneā€™s a no-brainer: turn your blog post into a podcast episode. You already have the talking points laid out, so talking through your post should be an easy way to repurpose that post for greater reach.

12. Create a TikTok video.

You knew this one would be on the list, right? The best thing about TikTok videos ā€” at least at this time ā€” is that the more casual, unedited videos actually perform the best! Similar to your Instagram Reels strategy, you can give a teaser to your post that directs viewers to the caption (and eventually the full blog post). Or you can choose to lay it all out in a condensed version of your blog post by highlighting the main points in your video.

13. Pull snippets from your post to tweet.

Twitter is not dead. If you have an active presence there, pull 3-5 snippets ā€” facts, quotes, anything you think your followers might resonate with from your post that may also generate further interest ā€” and incorporate them as tweets in your posting strategy.

Tip: Anytime you pull a series of facts or quotes from your post to share on another platform, do yourself a favor and intersperse them between other posts, rather than sharing them back-to-back.

Whew! Do we have those creative juices flowing yet? Repurposing content is not only an easy way to generate new content for your social channels ā€” itā€™s also a super smart use of your time and energy, as well.

Remember: on any platform, your entire audience doesnā€™t see every single post. So mixing in multiple posts of various formats on your preferred platforms is essential.

Make that content go farther for you, friend! Happy planning!!
