2025 Website Design Trend Predictions
When it comes to website design, some elements of design and website strategy are timeless and unique to your brand.
Custom website design gives us the perfect opportunity to deep dive into these details and craft a relevant and engaging design strategy that makes sense for you and your business.
But let’s be real: websites and digital experiences are ever-evolving in today’s world.
Keeping one eye on what’s working and what might make sense for your brand’s online presence is a great way to keep your brand and website current (while staying true to your brand philosophy and customer approach).
I’m sharing my top 2025 website design trend predictions below so you can plan ahead for any evolutions or updates to your own brand and website this year.
01. Custom Design Approach
This first one is a 2025 website design trend I HOPE to see: moving away from simple, predictable, template-looking designs in favor of a more custom design approach.
Now hear me out — templates in website design are NOT the enemy here. There are tons of gorgeous options from designers I adore. However, it’s the generic, boxy, fill-in-the-blank template design approach I think we’re all tired of seeing; and this type of design also happens to be exactly what AI is producing right now.
Avoid looking like everyone else by incorporating design elements in your site that are custom and intentional; this approach will help your website stand out and feel more humanized and high-end. Think custom iconography, rollover effects, unexpected typography design, custom textures and patterns, and more.
2. Editorial Design
Editorial design has been a popular website design approach for 2024, and my prediction is that it’ll continue to be so in 2025.
Personally, I love this style in website design and am excited to see it stick around a bit longer; think the use of layering, typographic elements, and a user experience that lends a nod toward high-end artistry in website design. With content and brands taking a more human approach these days, editorial design can be a great way to carry that through your online presence.
And no, editorial design in website design does not have to mean a minimal, black and white layout; it has evolved to carry a much more dynamic and engaging approach that lends endless creative freedom to your website design. If you’re in dire need of making a change on your website and aren’t sure how to get started, these two questions can help guide you to the best path so you know what to look for and focus on in your website redesign.
3. Organic Design
Alongside editorial design, organic design is a second approach in website design I know we’ll see more of in 2025.
Again, this one comes back to brands looking to humanize, connect, and “break the mold” per se by moving away from boxy designs in favor of friendlier, more approachable design. When it comes to organic design in 2025 website design, think of free flowing design, nature-inspired elements, and custom illustrations and graphics.
Organic design can also foster a touch of warmth and playfulness — perfect for companies looking to connect with a younger audience or remove barriers that exist within their industry.
4. Use of Color
Even as someone who’s notoriously a fan of clean, neutral palettes in design, I’m excited to see a more intentional use of color in 2025 website design!
Color psychology is nothing new when it comes to website design; however, brands and individuals are starting to incorporate color in bolder, more unexpected ways that enhance the online brand experience and help brands stand out. Gradients have also been trending this past year and are here to stay for 2025 — but maybe used in more unique ways.
A signature bold color paired with a slightly more subdued supporting color can be a great way to incorporate color in your brand and website design.
5. Brand Humanization
You probably saw this one coming based on my commentary through some of the other trends… and it’s an essential one to keep in mind when it comes to website design in 2025.
Humanizing your brand through the use of copy and design in all customer touchpoints is already a favorite way of mine to go above and beyond and leave a lasting impression on your clients and customers. But paying attention to this strategy is going to be even more important as AI continues to find its place in our world. Think personalized design, signature brand elements, and authentic conversations.
Give your people a behind the scenes look at your brand and don’t be afraid to get personal when the situation allows. As the saying goes, people connect with people.
6. AI Chatbots
I can’t write an entire post about 2025 website design trends and leave out the one MAJOR change that has affected every creative industry in the last year: the use of AI.
One of the best ways I can see AI serving brands through their website is through the use of AI chatbots — chat features, help desks, and other supportive integrations that are designed to answer questions and make your visitor’s experience smoother. Chatbots are especially helpful for e-commerce websites.
AI chatbots are getting smarter, friendlier, and less robotic, and could be your next best addition to your website in 2025.
