When Heather and I first connected via a video chat, it was fate that we would get the chance to work together on her website redesign; our excitement for her next chapter and all that was possible for Life Garden Style was mutual. And I was immediately inspired by her story and her passion that drove her work in gardening, landscape design, and arrangements.

The Starting Point

Heather was no stranger to blogging and the upkeep that came with a website; she had already been blogging through her personal blog — focused on daily life, gardening, and fashion — for years, hence the name she was already operating under: Life Garden Style.

But as her life and work evolved, Heather used her background in landscape design and natural talent for gardening and arranging to start offering contact-free arrangements for pickup during the pandemic.

Her customers LOVED her work and kept coming back for more. That’s when she realized she was onto something and started going all in on building Life Garden Style into the business of her dreams.

She started offering cut flower subscriptions, seasonal planter design, and landscape design, and had plans to introduce her first online course, Cut Flower Gardening for Beginners.

Heather is immensely talented in what she does. But her website at the time barely touched on these brilliant new ways you could work with her, and the back end of her website didn’t make it easy to collect sales or inquiries for new projects.

The Vision

Heather came to me with a vision of completing rethinking her website strategy and digital experience for potential customers and clients. We knew we needed to:

  • Communicate her services in a clear and organized manner

  • Showcase her talent through previous projects and work

  • Make it super simple for customers and clients to get started working with her

  • Reimagine her blog strategy to better support potential clients and customers

So we got to work.

The Process

Heather came to me with a rebrand for Life Garden Style that was just in the final stages, so we had a direction to start with from a creative standpoint.

She was also extremely organized and on top of it when it came to other visual content — photos of her work and professional photos of herself in her natural environment that helped put a face and personality behind her company.

For the sake of being more user-friendly from the back end and easier to manage with ongoing additions to the site, we decided to build her new website on Squarespace.

In order to get her new brand and offers live and into the world sooner than later, we started with a landing page — a common add-on my clients LOVE that launches with 2-3 weeks and acts as a holding place for your website while we build out the full site. It gave her visitors a place to go to learn more about what she had to offer and how to get started working with her.

From there, we moved into her Brand Messaging Guide and Website Copy — two copy docs I provide as an addition to my Signature Website Design package that gives us an opportunity go in-depth with your mission, differentiator, core values, client desires and pain points, and more, including every single page of your website copy.

I follow a clear, proven structure for your copy that helps drive organic traffic from Google and speaks to your ideal client so your website is actually fun to read and scroll through!

Next, we finalized her Brand Style Guide with a font suite she loved, and moved right into her website home page design to start pulling it all together.

The home page design acts as a foundation for the rest of the site — so I love to start there and allow clients time to review, make revisions, and perfect the design before moving into the rest of the website build-out.

In Heather’s case, we also:

  • Created an evergreen blog strategy that will continually drive traffic to her site with content that supports her clients and visitors

  • Designed a gorgeous opt-in freebie that will encourage visitors to sign up for her email list and take action with Life Garden Style beyond the freebie

  • Set up a digital resource shop that gives visitors a way to work with Heather through her online course and planter recipes

  • Created a “favorites” page that Heather can continually update as a way to build affiliate commission alongside her service and digital product sales

Working with Heather and helping to see her vision through for this next chapter of Life Garden Style was such a dream! If you’re interested in cut flower gardening and putting together your own planters to elevate your home or business, I highly recommend checking out her resources and browsing the blog for valuable tips straight from her garden.
