Website Redesign Case Study
Avana Windows & Doors
When Wendy, Natalie, and I first connected on a video chat, I knew we were meant to work together; their story of building a women-owned brand in the home improvement space and setting themselves apart through intentional, high-end design piqued my interest from day one, and we got to work creating the new Avana Windows & Doors website.
The Starting Point
Wendy, the founder of Avana, moved into the home improvement space back in 2005 — but shortly after, was called to jury duty for the Enron Trial, infamously one of the largest corporate bankruptcies in history. Through that experience, she saw firsthand the unfortunate unfoldings that came from deception and lack of personal responsibility in this corporation.
From then on, she vowed to lead her own company with integrity, transparency, and care, committed to bringing a refreshingly personal approach to her clients and partners.
Wendy built Avana Windows & Doors to where it is today, with years of existing clients and credibility in the replacement windows and doors industry. Their team specializes in hurricane coastal products, a necessity in the Texas and Florida areas they serve.
Natalie, Avana’s Vice President, brings a design background to the mix that blends the more traditional world of construction and home improvement with an artistic and forward-thinking approach to each project.
Their existing website checked some of the boxes from a content standpoint — but failed to capture their modern, design-centric philosophy that really sets Avana apart in the industry.
The Vision
Wendy and Natalie came to me with a desire to take Avana as a company (and their website) into the next era of their business. So together, we made a plan to:
Showcase their best projects in order to draw in similar clients and projects
Get both Wendy and Natalie front and center as the faces behind the brand with the intention of building client connection from the start
Organize their product section in a more intuitive way
Create an overall show-stopping design that reflects their own high-end, design-centric approach to all they do through Avana
From there, we got to work.
The Process
To kick off their project, we dove headfirst into the Brand Messaging and Copywriting portion of their website. Starting with copy ensures we’re setting them up for success from search and content organization standpoint.
In their case, there was a LOT of copy — we wanted to prioritize separate pages for each of the products they offered (14 in all), yet ensure the site was easy to navigate and encourage inquiries via their Contact page from potential new clients.
Since they also operate in five different cities, we created individual pages for these cities so visitors could quickly learn more about how they can help in these areas.
Finally, we chose to implement my core post strategy for their blog, creating a series of evergreen posts their visitors would find helpful that also act as a longterm traffic source for their website.
Wendy and Natalie came to me with an existing logo that allowed a little room for expansion on their brand — so we did just that, bringing the brand to life through a stunning, neutral palette. We also built out their font suite with an elegant, high-end combination designed to create a professional, modern aesthetic through their brand and website.
Once we dove into design, we chose to build their new website on WordPress in order to give them the best design and functionality capabilities for their site.
The design process flowed beautifully, their new digital brand guide and website copy leading the way as each page came together to showcase Avana’s story, projects, and capabilities in this new era.
Working with Wendy and Natalie to bring this renewed vision for Avana Windows & Doors to life was absolutely everything! If you’re in the areas of Houston, Galveston, Dallas, Corpus Christi, or South Florida and in the market for window or door replacements, I highly encourage you to reach out their skilled team to help you out.
